Three Books of Occult Philosophy
← all texts · Grimoires · 1533 (Agrippa von Nettesheim)
What this is
The systematic backbone the grimoires quietly assume. Book I is natural magic — the virtues of stones, plants and animals; Book II is celestial — number, the magic squares, the planetary characters; Book III is ceremonial — the orders of angels, divine names, and the soul. Almost every later grimoire in the Western tradition is downstream of this.
